UK Ring Size Guide: How to Measure Your Ring Size at Home

UK ring sizes are measured on a letter scale, typically from A (smallest) through to Z and beyond, rather than the numeric scales used in the US or Europe. Getting this right matters — a ring that's even half a size out can be uncomfortable or slip off.

The most accurate way: get sized in person

If you can, the most reliable method is to visit us in store and have your finger measured properly with a ring sizer. Finger size can vary through the day and with temperature, so a professional measurement accounts for that. You can find our details on our Contact page.

Measuring at home

If you can't get to us, here's a reasonably accurate way to measure at home:

  1. Cut a thin strip of paper about 2cm wide and long enough to wrap around your finger.
  2. Wrap it snugly around the base of the finger you'll wear the ring on — not too tight, not loose enough to slide off.
  3. Mark where the paper overlaps, then measure the length in millimetres from the end to the mark. This is your finger's circumference.
  4. Compare that measurement against a UK ring size chart to find your letter size.

A few things that affect accuracy: measure at the end of the day when fingers are slightly larger, avoid measuring when your hands are cold, and measure your dominant hand if the ring is for a hand that does more manual work (it's often very slightly larger).

Buying a ring for someone else, secretly

Proposing and need a size without asking? We've written a full guide on how to find someone's ring size without them knowing.

What if it doesn't fit?

Every ring we make can be resized after the fact in most cases — our repairs and servicing team handles resizing regularly, so it's rarely worth guessing when your fiancéé or fiancé can get properly measured with us afterwards, especially for proposals where a rough size will do for the big moment.

Once you know your size, you can browse our full ring collection and select your exact size before checkout.
